Flat-Panel Detectors with Avalanche Gain
Case ID:
7716
Web Published:
7/6/2020
Background
Active matrix flat-panel imagers (AMFPI) based on active matrix thin film transistor (TFT) arrays are the most promising technology for digital x-ray imaging due to their compact size, rapid readout, and better imaging performance than screen films.
Technology
A flat panel detector, comprising of a phosphor screen for receiving x-rays and converting the x-rays into optical photons, produce electrical charges from the photons and create an active matrix for detecting electrical charges. This allows for a system to generate good image quality at a very low dose.
Advantages
- Better imaging quality - Deeper reach in areas of dense skin tissue - More accurate
Application
- Cancer research - Radiation therapy - Health sciences - Hospitals - Clinical - Cancer
